Problems with the publishing industry – a particular breed of person

Sometimes, the publishing industry attracts a particular breed of person, the person with a large ego. These kinds of people are challenging to deal with, as they consider themselves literary gods. As a result, they don’t like literary criticism and use manipulation as a tactic.

This industry attracts this kind of person because there is an opportunity within this industry for someone to be feted, and those with large egos wish to be heralded. They wish to be deemed heroes, shining lights; they wish their egos to be massaged.

Oh, and to be on the receiving end of an egomaniac’s wrath, watch out! In reality, this industry is driven by markets: what customers want, giving them what they want, and acquiring financial rewards when successful.
